Hymns of the West website

My series, Hymns of the West, now has it’s very own, shiny website!  The website address is http://HymnsoftheWest.tk.  On the website you will find information about my books, preorder information for A Mighty Fortress, as well as my beta-reading and proofreading services.

Psalm 91

I am really excited to be launching my website, especially the proofreading services.  As an author, reader, and natural editor, I have been appalled by the lack of editing in many books lately.  If you know of any authors, or are an author yourself, please share this service with them.

Thank you for taking the time to visit my new website.

One last thing.  If you haven’t already entered my giveaway, at the time this post was published, there were only 34 hours left to enter.  The winner will be drawn and announced on November 1, 2013.

Have a productive and Godly Wednesday evening and Thursday.

Amazing, Surprising, Fun, Exciting Giveaway

Fear Not Blog Hop Picture

“When I am afraid,
I will put my trust in You.
In God, whose word I praise,
In God I have put my trust;
I shall not be afraid.
What can mere man do to me?
All day long they distort my words;
All their thoughts are against me for evil…

In God, whose word I praise,
In the Lord, whose word I praise,
In God I have put my trust, I shall not be afraid.
What can man do to me?” ~ Psalm 56:3-5, 10-11

This week is one of my favorites and also one of my least favorite weeks of the year.  On October 26th, I turn 23.  Can I really be that old already?  Wow!  That is my favorite part of the week.  My least favorite is the last day of the month, October 31.  On October 31st, many people, Christians and non-Christians alike will celebrate a pagan and Satanic holiday.  This year, I am doing two very different and new things that I am really excited about.

1. I am participating in my first ever blog hop.  *points to picture above*  Click the picture for more information and to enter the giveaway for the Grand Prize of $95.00!

2. I am hosting my very first, most exciting giveaway ever! Continue reading

Apology and Announcement

Fall Colors

Before I get to my announcement, I want to apologize for any confusion I caused last week.  I posted a protected blog post.  There was a very good reason for this.  I had a blog post I needed some people to see, but could not reveal to the general public yet.  This was the easiest way to do it.  I am sorry for any wasted time and confusion this may have caused.

And now on to the announcement!

On Friday, you get to see the protected post!  I am hosting a very fun and exciting giveaway!  I can hardly wait for Friday to come so I can reveal the secretive post.  But, alas, I shall have to wait.  Until then,
hop over to my new “Character Highlights” page to get a mental picture of the three main characters in A Mighty Fortress.

Until Friday,

Faith

Of Editing and Snippets

AMightyFortressBookCover

I finished my editing!!  A Mighty Fortress is now on its way to my proofreaders!!  Am I excited?  No, not really. 😉   As I read through A Mighty Fortress, I found some snippets I wanted to share with my faithful blog readers.  So here they are: Continue reading

Free in Christ

I recently read a sermon talking about what being free in Christ meant.  The most powerful part of the sermon was the closing illustration.  From what I could find, the source of the story is in dispute, so I will just post it here saying that I did not write this and I don’t know for sure who did.  Enjoy!

Writing Update and a Blog Update

Writing Update

My original goal for my third draft of A Mighty Fortress was to get past the 50,000 word mark.  I surpassed that goal long ago and am now standing strong at almost 61,000 words.  At this time, when I have my book formatted into 5″ x 8″ pages there are over 250 pages.  I was pleasantly surprised when I realized this.

As an update, I have received most of the feedback from my test readers and am now implementing some of their suggestions.  Perhaps I will reach the 62,000 word mark with some of the further edits.  We shall see.
