Guest Post by Valerie Howard

Today, I have the honor of introducing Valerie Howard today as a guest blogger.  I had the honor to proofread her book “Our God Saves” earlier this year.  If you still need a present for that book lover of yours, this book would be a wonderful addition to their bookshelf.  “Our God Saves” is a book of uplifting testimonies from people of all different backgrounds.

Bio:
Valerie Howard is a pastor’s wife and stay-at-home mom from Southern Maine.  She has a 1-year-old son and two insane beagles who keep her very busy when she’s not writing!  Valerie has been writing stories since she was in second grade when she wrote “The Mystery of the Missing Crayon”.  Her public school teacher even let the class act out the story and record in on a cassette tape.  Valerie is the author of two fiction books for women, one Christmas play, nine unusual children’s books, and now, a compilation book of over 30 personal salvation testimonies.  Valerie enjoys scrapbooking and interior design.

Book Blurb:
Our God Saves is a compilation of over 30 personal salvation testimonies from Christians across the country.  Each person shares their personal journey to saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, and though each story couldn’t be more unique, God’s persistent love is the common thread that ties all these accounts together.  Encouraging, challenging, and eye-opening, this is the perfect book to read during Christmastime in order to remember the reason for the season.

Short Interview:
Q: What made you want to write Our God Saves?
A: I compiled a recipe book for our small country church last Christmas, and this year I decided it would be cool to have everyone’s salvation testimony in a book for posterity.  The project grew broader than I could have imagined, and soon people I never met were emailing me their testimonies.  A lot of the stories are from people who attend my church, but some are from people I only know through email.

Q: What do you want the reader to take away from this book?
A: I want the people to read this book to see how God still works today.  I want people to see that you can be forgiven even if you tried to burn your parents alive (Yes, that’s one of the accounts in the book).  I want people to see that God loves them and Jesus died for them.  They can become a Christian no matter who they are, where they are, or what kind of hand life has dealt them so far.  No one is beyond the reach of God’s saving grace.

Q: What’s next for you?
A: I’m working on two new books right now.  One is a fiction book about a 92-year-old ex-army chaplain and the atheist home nurse who comes to care for him.  The other is a non-fiction book called “You’re Probably Wrong About God”, trying to correct some false views about God and show why they can be detrimental and damaging.  I hope to publish both of these books in 2014…if my son decides to take his naps and let me work on them!

Those books all sound very interesting! I like the idea of an atheist home nurse being witnessed to by her patient. Very intriguing.
