AFSiJ Finale

(I apologize for the formatting. For some reason, the blog site does not want to put paragraph breaks where I tell them to go and I don’t know anything about html, so I can’t fix it.)
Finale Questions

Did you reach your goal?
I reached my writing goal, but not the editing goal. That being said, I am hoping that I can get the editing done this week.
What was the most difficult part of finishing something this July?
I had too much going on in July. 😛 It wasn’t until the last week of July that I actually had some time to write.
Did you maintain a writing schedule? How often did you write to meet your goal?

Yes and no. For the last week I did. I wrote as much as I could whenever I could. Before that, it was just whenever I could, I would write for a little while until something else came up. The last week of July, I wrote an average of 3,000 words each day and finished on August 1st.
List some of the musical tracks/artists you listened to most frequently this July.
Star Trek. Mostly because I never switched the randomized pandora station off of my Star Trek station. Steve Green was also frequent on the shuffle stations. Yes, I know, I’m weird. I mix soundtracks with Christian music. To each his own. 😀
Snippets! Share some of your July writing.
Today’s snippets are Miles themed. Enjoy!
“Thanks for coming over, Miles,” Caleb said.
“I can always spare time for my favorite brother-in-law,” Miles smiled.
“Let me guess, I am your only brother-in-law.”
Miles’ grin grew sheepish.  “Yes, you are.”
“Why are you here, though?”  Caleb asked.  “I didn’t ask you to come over and you didn’t bring Anna or the boys with you.”
Miles sat down on the step of the porch and motioned for Caleb to join him.  “Anna’s worried about you.  You have a mail order bride coming soon, you are trying to build and furnish a house, help your father, and who knows what else.  And you haven’t been to church for a few weeks.”
“I know.  It’s just that Da drinks so heavily when I am gone.  I’m afraid he’ll overdo it one of these days.”
Miles nodded and was silent for awhile.  “Why haven’t you become a Christian?  You seem to live a moral, upright life, but as far as Anna and I know, you have not surrendered your life to Christ.
Caleb looked down at his hands, thoughts churning in his mind.  When he spoke, his voice was tense and just above a whisper, “I’m not worthy of becoming a Christian or going to heaven.”
“None of us are,” Miles started.
“No,” Caleb interrupted.  “That’s not what I mean.  I mean that God wouldn’t let me in heaven and wouldn’t let me become a follower of His Son.”
Miles’ face was a study of confusion.  His eyebrows were furrowed and his head cocked to the side.  “Why not?” he asked.

He sighed with a heavy heart. “Well, time’s a-wasting and I still have a sermon to write this week. What shall I preach about this week, Lord? How about knowing where God is leading? Maybe then I can figure out where You are leading me.”
Miles opened his Bible to a random passage and started to read.
“For the ways of man are before the eyes of the Lord, and he pondereth all his goings. His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall beholden with the cords of his sins. He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.”
“Okay, Lord, what exactly am I supposed to do with this passage?” He was silent for a few minutes, deep in thought. “Ah, yes, that would be perfect.” He picked up a pencil and started scribbling on the blank paper in front of him.
Thank you for encouraging me along the way during this challenging month. It was fun, difficult, and totally worth it all.

  1. Congratulations of finishing!! Here is a code I found when I had paragraph issues   I don’t know anything about HTML either! I keep the code handy and have to copy paste everytime I use it. The letters just seep from my brain!
