Today I have the privilege of introducing you to a sweet, short story called Coffee Cake Days by Amanda Tero.

About the Book

Coffee Cake Days cover 02 light smallMeg has finally graduated and has the time she’s dreamed of for months: time to “sit at the feet of Jesus” and soak up His Word as she seeks what future plans He has for her.

She soon runs into a problem: her family. Unwanted interruptions and household duties tear her away from the time she longs to spend in the Bible. Journey with her as she strives to learn the balance of spending time in God’s Word and applying it to her daily life.

Review

I had the privilege of reading this short story and Amanda asked me toButton review it to help her celebrate her book release.

Introduction:

This is a sweet, short story about a recent homeschool graduate who suddenly has time to do all the study of the Bible she wants. Or does she?

Characters: 1/1

All the characters were great, but I especially loved how Amanda portrayed Meg. And little Crystal was just too cute!

Dialogue: 1/1

The dialogue really kept the story going. The inner dialogue of Meg was especially good.

Plot/storyline: 1/1

I’m guessing every Christian as been to the point that Meg is. The lessons she learns and her reactions were convicting to me as well. May I be as teachable as she was.

Banner 01Over-all writing quality: 1/1

Through the entire short story, I felt like I could relate to each character and was being shown rather than told the story. And I just realized that I didn’t even catch any typos. Good job, Amanda!

Un-put-down-ability: 1/1

First of all, it helps that it’s so short, but even if it had been longer, I don’t think I would have wanted to stop.

Conclusion: 5/5

I highly recommend this short story to anybody who has trouble balancing their home life with their spiritual life. The insights and lessons Meg learns are pertinent whether you have graduated, are a mom, or are still in school.

About the Author

AmandaAmanda Tero is a homeschool graduate whose desire is to provide God-honoring reading material.
Her current projects include short stories and novels-in-progress.  When she was a young teenager, Amanda was obsessed with writing. However, the Lord helped her to realize that she was writing for her personal pleasures and purposes – not His. For several years, she put away “pleasure writing” and wrote mainly Biblical articles for several years (which she still continues). She found the time of writing silence beneficial in gleaning from God’s Word and strengthening the focus of why she writes. Since 2013, the Lord directed her to begin writing fiction again. Her desire is to glorify and exalt God in all of her writing. She desires to challenge girls to focus on their relationship with God and grow in Him and His Word. If something she has written draws an individual into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, it is worth it!

Wow, that sounds REALLY good. I am struggling with balance right now. It sounds wonderful, and being homeschooled, I’m sure it’ll really click with me, too. I really liked her little bio, she sounds like a wonderful lady.
