7-7-7 challenge

A blogger friend of mine recently did this challenge and tagged anyone who hadn’t done it and who wanted to do it. So here I am!

These are the rules:

  • Go to page 7 of your WIP
  • Scroll down to line 7
  • Share the next 7 sentences in a blog post.
  • After the excerpt, tag 7 other writers to continue the challenge.

As I mentioned in my last blog post, I am currently editing and writing, so I have two Works in Progress (WIP). Because of this, I will actually post TWO excerpts. ๐Ÿ˜€ One will be from Lily of the Valley which I am editing, and the other from The Solid Rock which is being written pretty much as we speak. ๐Ÿ™‚ Enjoy!

Lily of the Valley

(I’m actually going to cheat with this one since doing 7 sentences AFTER line 7 is the end and beginning of a chapter and doesn’t really make sense.)

Ruth looked up at him with a smile. โ€œI plan to. Just like I plan to tell any of the parents if their child gets to be too much trouble.โ€

Micah chuckled. โ€œThank you, Miss Brookings. Iโ€™d better get back to the office to make sure Obadiah isnโ€™t getting into trouble.โ€ He handed her the stack of books and papers.

The Solid Rock

A block away from the house, Joshua noticed a man loitering across from the house.ย  He ducked into the next street and found a way to get to the back door without being spotted.

Joshua knocked loudly on the back door and stepped back to wait and watch. When the door opened, it only opened enough for the muzzle of a shotgun to show thorough.

“Who are you and why did you come to the back door?”

Even after four years, Elizabeth hadn’t lost her tenacious spirit. “Joshua Brookings, Pinkerton agent,” Joshua said in a low voice.

I hope you enjoyed these sneak peeks. What did you think of the sneak peeks? Do you have any guesses as to what each are about?

Making me anxious for reading “The Solid Rock” (one of my favorite hymns, by the way) . ๐Ÿ™‚

Thank you, Amanda! I’m anxious to share it with people. But first things first. Namely, getting Lily of the Valley out first. ๐Ÿ˜€ I’d never really paid attention to the words until I was writing this book. Now I think it’s becoming a favorite.

  2. […] shared an excerpt last week if you would like to check it out. The Solid Rock is a different genre and slightly different style […]
