Who doesn’t like a birthday party? I certainly do! November 19^th was the third birthday of my debut novel, A Mighty Fortress. To celebrate, there are all sorts of fun going on. First, I released a newly revised version of A Mighty Fortress. Second, I have most of my published books on sale. Third, today is the release of the box set of all five of her novels and it has a special discounted price! And fourth, but not least, I will soon have an audiobook of her debut novel available! It’s really happening!

What’s really happening? I’m glad you asked. Earlier this spring, I got in contact with someone who had expressed interest in reading books for audio. I asked him for an audition and LOVED what he did with my story. So, I hired him to record it. I don’t know the exact release date since it’s been slightly slow in recording, but I do have a cover thanks to Perry Elisabeth Design!

I absolutely love it and can’t wait to share the audio sample with you soon.

It’s a Birthday Bash!

I am super excited to introduce what I hope to be a super fun, exciting, and big blog tour birthday bash. On November 19, 2013, I published my very first novel. If all goes well, that book will be made available on audiobook on November 19, 2016. Even if that doesn’t happen, we’re still going to celebrate the 3rd birthday of my debut novel.

It’s been a while since I updated you all on what I’ve been doing lately. I’m not even sure when the last time was, so bear with me if you already know a lot of this. I think I’ll do a monthly update.

In January, I published my first novella collection, A Mighty Fortress was promoted on BookBub, and I saw hope that I just might be able to make it work to write full-time.

My baby is now out and available to the world. Not literally, but it seems like it. The Solid Rock is by far my favorite novel of the series. There are many reasons for this. 1.) I’ve always loved reading mysteries, but was always intimidated by writing one. Now I’ve written two (one not published yet) and I think I’ve even done them both successfully! 2.) The spiritual themes in The Solid Rock are so much deeper than in my previous books. For more on those themes, check out the guest post I’m doing on Thursday on the Trust and Obey blog. 3.) It was the easiest rough draft to write. I wrote the entire rough draft (about 60,000 words) in 32 days by hand. God has blessed this book in so many ways. 4.) My cover designer came up with a great idea after my original idea didn’t work.

About the Book

Joshua woke with a quiet groan. As his senses woke up one at a time, he cracked his eyelids open. Sure enough, there was a silhouetted form standing at the foot of the bed. From the smell, the person was either from the brothel down the street or had recently left one.

He forced himself to breathe evenly and reached for the knife in his thigh holster. With as tough and evil a voice as he could imitate, he spoke, “State your intentions.”

Pinkerton detective, Joshua Brookings, is sent on a job that seems simple on the surface. His fellow detective has been kidnapped and his boss, William Pinkerton senses foul play. Joshua is sent to investigate Edward’s case in hopes of finding the kidnapped detective and helping solve the case that has taken over ten years to investigate.

Arriving in Cheyenne, Joshua finds much more than a simple kidnapping. Yet again, he must go undercover, something he made his boss promise never to make him do again. The only Christian in the outlaw group, Joshua falters and almost loses faith in God’s providence. Will he stand on the solid Rock or drown in the sinking sand?

Fun fact #2: I just had my first 10,000 word writing day yesterday. What does that mean? It means I wrote 10,000 words in one day. Not by hand this time, though. And yes, I am a little excited about it.

Today dawn’s a new day

Wow. The last four weeks have been a whirlwind and very different. First, I published Amazing Grace on Kindle, then I finished the rough draft of Lily of the Valley and the editing of I Love Thee, next I had problems with the paperback for Amazing Grace. Through all of this, I resigned from my job, giving my boss a four week notice.

Yesterday was my last day working there and today is my first day of being home full-time to write full-time. It’s an exciting time and I am so thankful to have a supportive family. Without them, I wouldn’t be able to do this at all. So, thank you Dad, Mom, Lydia, Naomi, and Seth!

I’m really looking forward to what God has planned for me, but I also know I’m going to need accountability and support.
