Sunshine Blogger Award

I’ve been nominated for the Sunshine Blogger Award! I think I’ve done it before, but the questions are always different, so it’s fun each time. I hope you enjoy reading it.

First off, I want to thank  Madeleine at The Introverted Raconteur for the tag a couple weeks ago. It was fun to read her post.
Now onto the questions!!!
Madeleine asked some tough, but fun questions. Here they are with my answers.
  1. What are two superpowers you wish you had? (one practical and one extremely ridiculous!) My practical superpower would be real eyes in the back of my head so I can keep tabs on whomever I need to. The not-so-practical superpower would be invisibility. I’ve always thought it would be fun to be a fly on the wall in some meetings or something, so invisibility is about the closest I could get to that.
  2. Are you currently writing a book? Share a little about it! No, I am not currently writing a book. I am currently writing one book and editing four others. Since I’m not ready to talk about the one I’m writing I’ll talk about the one I’m editing that is closest to publication. He Leadeth Me is the fourth and last in the Orphans of the West Series. It is about Gage Wilhelm and what he does after receiving the deed to his father’s farm. One of my beta-readers loved one of the relationships especially since it had some extra ups and downs many don’t have in books.
  3. What is one piece of poetry that, when you read it, you go “oh my word that is me!”? Um, well, basically the only poetry I’ve read is the book of Psalms. And there are a few that make me feel that way, but especially Psalm 4:1: “Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness! You have relieved me in my distress; be gracious to me and hear my prayer.” There have been times when I felt that way.
  4. What/who inspired you to start writing? That was so long ago, I really don’t know for sure. My mom, maybe?
  5. Weirdest quote from a project of yours? These is only “weird” because it’s between two sisters:”Em, I know you are mad at me, but I’ve been trying to get a hold of you for years now.”
Emmie turned around and glared at her. “Did you ever think that I changed my phone number for that very reason?”
  6. Is there a book universe that you totally would visit, if possible? Ilyon from Jaye L. Knight’s Ilyon Chronicles series, but only after things get resolved. 😉
  7. What is your most prized possession? Why? I would have to say my wedding ring because of the symbolism it holds as well as the fact that it means I am married to the most wonderful man on earth!
  8. Who in your life has been the most influential when it comes to your faith journey? I would have to say my mom is. She was my schoolteacher throughout my life and she brought in the Bible in so many places, it was impossible NOT to grow.
  9. What is the best movie you’ve ever seen? What did you love about it? Unidentified by Five and Two Pictures. I love it because of all the varying viewpoints they bring into the storyline while still keeping it Christian. I think the best part of the movie, though, is the fact that the main character is a struggling Christian. Someone who ends up not being sure he was ever truly saved to begin with.
  10. What is the best piece of advice for writers you’ve heard? Stick with it. There will always be tough times in writing and especially editing. But if you stick with it, eventually you will reap the rewards for your effort.
  11. What would you describe your writing style like? I’m going to steal my mom’s description of my writing style. It’s somewhere between Janette Oke and Laura Ingalls Wilder.

The Liebster Award

Raechel was kind enough to award me the Liebster Award. What is the award? Well, basically it just means she got the award and had to tag other bloggers to do it. 🙂 Here’s the rules:

The Rules:

1. Link back to the blogger who nominated you.
2. Answer the 11 new questions.
3. Nominate other bloggers (however many or few as you’d like).
4. Create 11 new questions for the bloggers you nominated.
5. Notify the new nominees of their award.
It’s that simple. So now to answer the questions she gave me. *trembles in fear and trepidation*

Sunflower award

I have been awarded the Sunflower award by Sarah from the Stardust and Gravel blog.

What is that?

Thanks for asking! The Sunflower award is when a blogger tags you to be a part of a fun blog event. All you have to do is give 11 random facts about yourself, answer the 11 questions from the awardee, tag 11 more bloggers, and give those bloggers 11 more questions to answer. Sounds fun, right? I sure hope so!   Here we go!

11 random facts about me. This could be interesting. 😛

  •  I like to write fiction, but I very rarely am able to write poetry. Even when I can, it isn’t very good.
  •  My favorite genre is Historical Fiction, unless it comes to movies. Most Historical Fiction movies that I have seen are either too glamorized, too unrealistic, or too gory to watch.
  •  I have successfully helped install two laminate floors and done two others almost all by myself.
  •  I am a very untypical female. I can live without chocolate and I don’t like to go shopping, unless it is for material or some other craft thing.
  •  Each book I have written so far has been written in a different way somehow.       Either it has been in a different tense, a different person, or not written straight through from beginning to end.
  •  I know, or know of, FOUR Andrew’s who all have the same middle name. What’s with that, anyway?
  •  I drink lots of water and bring a water bottle pretty much everywhere.
  •  I wear skirts or dresses all the time unless I am helping to unload hay.
  •  I don’t like most of the contemporary Christian music.
  •  Since it is summer, I may as well include this fact that nobody will probably care about.       I don’t tan. At all. Ever.       All I do is burn and peel.
  •  I just discovered (yesterday) a very successful, at least for me, way to edit my books. (More on this in a later post)

 11 Questions

 1. What’s the last sentence you wrote in a story?

God knew my vision before I did and made it more than I had ever thought possible.

 2. What was the last movie you watched?

Parent Trap (the old one with Hayley Mills)

3. Do you have a favorite quote?

“I don’t believe in coincidences, only God-incidences.”-a pastor I heard somewhere

 4. Favorite food?

Without a doubt, it would be Lasagna.

5. Have you ever seen a shooting star?

I think I have, but I can’t remember for sure.

6. If you were stranded on a desert island and could only have three books, which would you bring?

Some sort of herbal and/or plant identification book, Resistance by Jaye L. Knight, and The Holy Bible

7. In real life, which appeals to you more: futuristic, modern, or old-fashioned?

Old-fashioned with a slight mix of modern. There are some modern conveniences that are quite nice to have, but I do prefer a lot of the old-fashioned clothes, styles, and lifestyles.

8. In fiction, which appeals to you more: futuristic, modern, or old-fashioned? (Other worlds count.)

Old-fashioned. I like to read about what things were like back then.

9. What’s the strangest thing hanging on your wall in your room?

I have a nice little line up of 1 foot square crates hanging on my wall to hold various things including old pairs of glasses, head scarves, and my camera.

10. What’s your favorite bird?

Bald Eagles. They are so majestic and pretty.

11.  Robin Hood or King Arthur?

Robin Hood. I’ve probably read at least two different versions of the story and seen at least three different versions of the movie. As much as the King Arthur legend fascinates me, the magic that is usually in it repels me more than the history draws me in.
