My Favorite Things Tag

Favorite things tag

A new friend of mine tagged me in a post this tag post! It sounds super fun, too. And if you haven’t read anything from the Dino’s Digest blog, you definitely want to do so. That Dino is super hilarious!

Here are the rules:

1. Link back to and thank the person who tagged you.

2. Link back to and thank the blogger who created the tag.

3. List and picture seven of your favorite things.

4. Tag seven people—or as many as you can remember without straining your brain.

5. Use the picture above.

6. List the seven rules.

7. Have fun!

I always feel better when I list some of my favorite things, so here they are. Since I’m not good with poetry, I’m not even going to try to make it musical or rhyming enough to sing along with the song. As tempting as that is. (Note: These are listed in the order I think of them, not necessarily in the order I like them best).

1. My husband. He’s cute, funny, annoying, and quite sweet when he tries to be (sometimes when he isn’t trying, too). And we just celebrated 13 months of married life!

2. Dark Chocolate with Nuts. This is one of my favorite snacks. I doesn’t matter if the chocolate is covering the nuts or you eat a chocolate chip and a nut together, or even if it’s a chocolate square heated up with some peanut butter and stirred together. It all tastes delicious!

3. Fall. It’s my favorite season of the year. The crunchy leaves, cool air, beautiful colors and the promise of winter (a tie for my second favorite season).

4. Writing. This should be a no-brainer guess for anyone who has read much on this blog. I love writing so much I made it my full-time job. And now I’m teaching writing part-time as well! And volunteering my time on two other websites where I help other writers. That’s just a taste of how much I love writing. Apparently I can’t get enough of it.

5. Helping people. This is probably one of my weaknesses actually, too. I tend to help other people more than I probably should. Which means I either stress myself out by doing too much or don’t get something else done that I should be doing.

6. Music. Whether playing piano, flute, or listening to music, I just love it. Specific kinds, though, since I’m a bit picky.

7. Family. I love my family whether my immediate family or now my in-laws as well.

And there you have it. What are your 7 favorite things? I’m not going to tag anyone specific, but rather say if you have a blog and are reading this, consider yourself tagged.

‘Twas a dark and stormy night in a galaxy not that far away…

In a land far, far away, on a dark and stormy night, I sit typing away on my keyboard. Thoughts of family, friends, and other trivial things are far from me. I’m immersed into the lives of people living in the late 1880s in Athens, Tennessee. The final read through before sending the manuscript to the proofreaders was almost finished. Will I make it on time?

Two days earlier

I practically bounce around throughout the day. After finishing half of the final read through, I finally decide on a publication date. With beating heart and shaky fingers, I push the magic button that will make my book available for preorder about twelve hours later. Continue reading

A Reminder and an update

The Reminder

Ladies and gentlemen, please don’t forget to email your submissions to my little video project.  Thank you!

The Update

For those of you who may be curious about my next books, I am currently editing “Be Thou My Vision” and writing “Amazing Grace”.  By the end of this week, I will be sending “Be Thou My Vision” to 7-10 beta-readers to dissect and take it apart for me so I can put it back together in a more readable and accurate fashion.  Also, my lovely book cover creator is going to be working on the book cover in the next month or less.

As for where “Amazing Grace” is, I am working on solidifying a logline which I will post on the “Works in Progress” page when I have it ready.  I also started writing it and basically have two chapters written so far and hope to get a couple more chapters written this week.

And that’s all I can think of to say at the moment.  Have a wonderful Sunday!

Of Bookmarks, Business Cards, and Updates

Cowboy1

I am officially in marketing mode for A Mighty Fortress.  I now have bookmarks and business cards to hand out to people.  So, if anybody wants a business card or some bookmarks, just let me know.  If you are going to have a table or booth at a craft fair, home school conference, etc., I would be happy to send some bookmarks and business cards to you if you are will to have them on your table.

But what do they look like?

I am so glad you asked.  First, here is the business card:

And now for the bookmarks.  You might recognize the front of the bookmark if you saw the book cover reveal a couple of months ago.   Here is the front:

And the back:

The back is very similar to what the back of the book will look like once it is completely finished.

I am very excited to have these marketing tools in my hands.  Now all I need is conversation starters that lead to the handing out of the bookmarks and business cards.  Too bad they don’t send a few along with the orders. 😉

Quick Update

By way of a quick update, I thought I would mention that the next phase has begun.  Or should I say that the last phase has begun.  By this evening, I should have all the critiques back on A Mighty Fortress and on Friday, I will begin going through them all and changing anything that needs changed.

Then, Lord willing, on October 13th, I will send it off to my lovely editors.  The end is in sight and I am getting rather nervous and excited.  How about you?

Announcement

In exactly one month, on October 25th, I will be announcing my first ever book giveaway.  I am super, super excited about it and I’m sure you will be, too.
